WTA Miami Day 4 Predictions Including Anisimova vs Tomljanovic
- 431 words
There is a packed WTA schedule for Day 4 in Miami. Amanda Anisimova will be one of the most high-profile players to step onto the court for her opening match. All the other matches, including Coco Gauff vs Elisabetta Cocciaretto, Aryna Sabalenka vs Ann Li, Elena Rybakina vs Yulia Putintseva, Jessica Pegula vs Francesca Jones, Naomi Osaka vs Talia Gibson, and Madison Keys vs Elena-Gabriela Ruse, are predicted in our other articles.
WTA Miami Day 4 Predictions
Maria Sakkari vs Alycia Parks
Head-to-head: Parks 1-0 Sakkari
Sakkari will almost certainly need her return game to work well against Parks’s powerful serve. Although the Greek’s results this season have been mixed, her return has generally excelled in 2026. I expect Parks, who ended a four-match losing streak in the previous round, to compete well, but for Sakkari to end as the winner.
Prediction: Sakkari in 3
Jelena Ostapenko vs Dayana Yastremska
Head-to-head: Ostapenko 2-1 Yastremska
Yastremska will face one of the few WTA players whose style is more aggressive than her own in this matchup. Ostapenko uses the same ultra-attacking game against every opponent. The Latvian’s matches are challenging to predict because her level fluctuates, but I feel she will come through this matchup because Yastremska is not naturally adept at redirecting her opponent’s pace.
Prediction: Ostapenko in 2
Elina Svitolina vs Emerson Jones
Head-to-head: First meeting
Jones will need to recover quickly from her grueling 3-6 7-6 7-6 victory against Linda Fruhvirtova on Thursday evening. It took a great deal of mental and physical energy to win that match, which had several twists and turns. That means the rock-solid Svitolina is not an ideal opponent less than 24 hours later. Expect the Ukrainian veteran to handle this challenge.
Prediction: Svitolina in 2
Amanda Anisimova vs Ajla Tomljanovic
Head-to-head: Tomljanovic 2-0 Anisimova
These two last met in 2021, meaning the head-to-head will have no bearing on this match because of Anisimova’s development since. Tomljanovic’s most formidable shot is her backhand, and she tries to dominate with that shot. Unfortunately for the Australian, Anisimova’s backhand is arguably the best in women’s tennis. I do not foresee an upset here.
Prediction: Anisimova in 2
