What is Wordle?

Wordle started as a personal project but it gained momentum in 2021 across social media and was loved by many of all ages. Wordle is the brainchild of software engineer, Josh Wardle. He is known for the developing game, and it was intially, a private project for his girlfriend, Palak Shah. Talking about the name, it needs no brainer to guess that it was kept on Josh’s surname. It was intially played among his family and friends and the game rose to prominance when it was available online for the world.

Soon, it became a rage with people playing it online and sharing the result where their family and friends. It has grid of green, yellow and gray squares and it became extremely popular. The big shift came when major media company acquired the puzzle game. It was bought by The New York Times Company.

How to play Wordle?

Wordle required players to guess a secret five-letter word, and they get only six attempts to guess the correct answer. After each guess, the game reveals the result by turning the tiles either green, yellow or gray. When a correct letter is placed in the correct position, the title turns green. Yellow means the letter is in the word but it is not placed on the right position. However, gray colour shows that the letter is not part of the word.

These are the only clues which help the player guess the word and solve the puzzle. But the short number of attempts makes the Wordle even more difficult. Also, everyone receive the same daily word, which in a way joins everyone and the excitement to guess the word doubles up. Also another highlight of the game is that it gives one puzzle per day daily. This keeps the players hooked and they get the zeal to come back again to solve the puzzle. It helps to stay hooked to the game for a long period of time, and do not get bored with the changing trends and over-consumption.

Since October 2021 as a daily word game that is easily available for everyone to play for free. The reason why Wordle became extremely popular is that it is free and it is avaialble for every person in their smartphone. The shareable result also encourages players to share the perfromance with their friends and family connecting them mor efficiently.
