A 3-year-old Southern California tee ball player was so into his Kendrick Lamar walk-up song that he appeared to forget all about his at-bat.

Melissa Roque’s son Vince went viral after video of his game-stopping stride onto the field to “tv off” was posted to social media. Dragging the bat behind him, Vince made no move toward home plate and instead casually danced onto the infield as his opponents and coaches watched.

“He’s always dancing. He’s just a character,” Roque told NBC Los Angeles on Thursday. “There’s always something new with him every day.”

She said she got a strong feeling that she should start recording in that moment, especially since it was his first game.

“I just see that hip swing and the arm go up, and I said, ‘Oh yeah, there he goes,'” Roque said. “I heard coach saying, ‘Vince. Vince. Vince.’ And in my head, I’m like, I need to redirect him too … But I could not contain my laughter.”

His mom said she’s ultimately glad she “let him be” and that the people online were so supportive of his shining personality.

“It warms my heart,” Roque said. “A lot of people root for him. They’re like, ‘He is going to be a star.'”

Roque said Vince is big Dodgers fan and gets especially hyped when he hears the music.
