Warriors’ trade attempt rejected by Hornets

The Warriors reportedly tried to acquire both of Charlotte’s first-round picks, but the Hornets rejected the idea while Golden State continues exploring draft trade options around the No. 11 pick.
The Golden State Warriors reportedly explored a potential draft-night move with the Charlotte Hornets, but the talks did not advance.
According to Brett Siegel of ClutchPoints, the Warriors recently contacted the Hornets to see whether a deal could be made for Charlotte’s No. 14 and No. 18 picks in the 2026 NBA Draft.
However, the Hornets showed no interest in trading both selections, with sources indicating that Charlotte is comfortable staying in its current draft position.
Golden State currently owns the No. 11 pick in the 2026 NBA Draft, giving the franchise a lottery selection as it looks to add young talent around its veteran core.
Warriors still exploring draft options
Even after Charlotte’s lack of interest, the Warriors are reportedly continuing to look at possible trade scenarios.
Per Siegel, Golden State is open to moving down from the No. 11 pick if the price is right. The possibility of adding another pick in the late teens in addition to keeping or reshaping their lottery asset has also not been ruled out.
That means the Warriors could still be active before or during the draft, especially if they believe there is a group of prospects available later in the first round who fit their roster needs.

Golden State looking to get younger
The Warriors’ draft decision comes at an important point for the organization.
General manager Mike Dunleavy recently suggested that Golden State is more likely to use the No. 11 pick than trade it, while also pointing to the need for the team to get younger and more athletic.
The No. 11 selection would be the Warriors’ highest draft pick since they selected Jonathan Kuminga seventh overall in 2021.
Golden State has been searching for ways to maximize the remaining years of Stephen Curry’s window.
