Steph Curry Makes New Pitch to LeBron James to Join Warriors on Video Amid NBA Free Agency Rumors

Stephen Curry feels LeBron James would be ending his NBA career “the right way” by signing with the Golden State Warriors in free agency.
“The Bay, we know how to win, it’s beautiful weather, great golf, and I know he’s into that,” Curry said when asked what his pitch would be to James in a Wednesday appearance on Good Morning America.
Curry continued, “The USA experience that we had, the battles that we’ve had over the years, we just know how to play basketball and I think that he would enjoy just the idea of what it means to finish your career the right way.”
ESPN’s Shams Charania reported the Warriors are one of five teams still in the running to sign James following his departure from the Los Angeles Lakers.
Charania said the Minnesota Timberwolves are also in the running, but added there is “a focus” on the Cleveland Cavaliers, Miami Heat and Philadelphia 76ers.
Curry isn’t the only Warriors star working on a pitch for James. Draymond Green said on a recent episode of his podcast The Draymond Green Show he had spoken to James on the topic during a recent golf trip the two took to Puerto Rico.
“I’d be remiss if I don’t take the opportunity to throw my pitch in there… Of course I did that and of course the pitch was crazy. I think I’m pretty decent at it,” Green said.
“Does it change anything? Does it make anything happen? I don’t know. I hope so. With the things that I shared in it, it’s definitely gonna make the brain work a little bit. I don’t think there’s a decision that’s been made, but say if there was, it’ll make you think twice about it.”
Charania reported earlier this month the Warriors felt they wouldn’t be frontrunners to sign James unless they acquired his former Lakers teammate Anthony Davis from the Washington Wizards.
Wizards general manager Will Dawkins has since said he’s planning on Davis sticking around in D.C. next season.
The Warriors may have to hope other offseason moves, including re-signing Al Horford and Kristaps Porziņģis and hiring Frank Vogel as an associate head coach after he led James and the Lakers to the 2020 NBA title, will be enough to encourage James to consider joining Curry and Green in the Bay Area.
