The Seahawks signed former Washington Commanders cornerback Noah Igbinoghene on Tuesday.

Igbinoghene, a former first-round pick out of Auburn, spent the first three seasons of his career with the Miami Dolphins, and played in 32 games for the Dolphins, before he was traded to the Dallas Cowboys ahead of the 2023 season. After playing in five games for the Cowboys that season, Igbinoghene signed with the Commanders where he’s been for the last two seasons.

Over the course of six seasons, Igninoghene has started 17 games and has 119 tackles, 1.0 sack, two fumble recoveries, 17 passes defensed and an interception.

The 5-11, 197-pound cornerback said he, “Had an opportunity to come here last year, didn’t choose to, so now, choose the right side this time. So, I’m excited to see how it goes. I’m excited for the opportunity.”

Igbinoghene will provide depth at cornerback, and he said Seattle is getting a “champion at heart.”

“Someone who takes care of his body, takes care of himself, takes care of his mind, all parts of himself, and someone who’s going to come in and be physical,” he said. “I feel like I fit the defense and fit the team perfectly well. Everything about this culture, about this team, and this team is a championship team. I’m a champion at heart, so I’m glad to be a part of it and see what happens.”

Over his career, Igbinoghene also has some special teams snaps, returning kicks during his career.

“It’s something I’ve been doing, since high school,” he said. “I played receiver in high school, and a little bit in college as well, so it’s something I did in college too, and I didn’t even know I was going to be good at it. It kind of just worked out and [I] flowed with it… I’ve been doing it the last couple of years, too. Did it a lot more last year. And so, if I’m called to do that here, then I’ll do it.”
