Man in ICE vest escorted off Honolulu Hale voting grounds

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – Police escorted a man wearing military-style clothing from the voter service center at Honolulu Hale Tuesday evening.

Our Hawaii News Now crew was on scene when the man approached wearing a tan camouflage outfit, a vest with a patch that said “ICE” on the back, and a hat that said “Ultra MAGA.”

The incident unfolded just after 6 p.m., about an hour before voting service centers were scheduled to close.

Honolulu Elections Administrator Rex Quidilla asked officers to remove the individual from the premises after voters who were in line reported feeling uneasy in his presence.

Officers questioned the man, who said he was not affiliated with the military, ICE, or any organized group, and that he was at the facility acting as an independent observer.

He left the property peacefully and without incident. However, about 10 minutes later, bystanders reported he was still causing a disturbance across the street, prompting officers to return to the area.
