Dozens braved the wind and rain in Penacook for the Memorial Day parade honoring fallen service members. Boscawen resident Kylie Dennis said she wouldn’t have missed it, rain or shine, especially as the country prepares to mark its 250th anniversary this summer. “It was a lot of fun to celebrate the 250th year of the USA with the Memorial Day parade,” Dennis said. Hillsborough resident Cathy Houle said the cool temperatures had her reaching for earmuffs and a puffy coat, but it was worth it to spend time with loved ones and honor the veterans in her life. “Even though the weather’s not that great, we’re together. That’s all that counts,” Houle said. Many are now hoping for clearer skies by the Fourth of July as the nation’s 250th anniversary celebrations continue. For those who missed events this weekend, more Memorial Day parades are scheduled Monday.
