Detroit Tigers welcome Colorado Rockies for 3-game weekend series

- 319 words
The Detroit Tigers open up the second half of their six-game home stand on Friday against the Colorado Rockies in a battle of two teams sure to miss the playoffs this year. The Rox currently own the worst record in all of baseball and the second-worst run differential in the sport, so hopefully, the good guys can score a few wins this weekend.
Taking the mound in the series opener is left-hander Framber Valdez, who had one of his best outings of the season last time out against the Guardians in Cleveland. The 32-year-old threw seven scoreless frames on three hits and a walk while striking out three and hitting a batter en route to his ninth win of the season in a 6-0 final.
For the Rockies, right-hander Mason Adams will toe the rubber to make his fourth major league start. The 26-year-old rookie has allowed at least a run in each of his three outings so far and has failed to get past five innings of work, but his efforts have been good enough for Colorado to win two of those three appearances.
Take a look below at how the two match up in the series opener on Friday night.
