There’s a lot that head coach Aaron Glenn would like the Jets to improve on after shutting out the Pittsburgh Steelers, 17-0, on the road Friday night.

“Defensively, it was good to get the two interceptions,” Glenn said. “I thought we did good as far as getting the shutout, but what I really liked was that the second- and third-team guys did a really good job of closing this out, so I am proud of that.”

With the regular season just three weeks away, we spotlight five players who flashed in the ‘Burgh.

David Bailey
The No. 2 overall pick felt relief after recording his first NFL sack Friday night.

“Sometimes I’m a little bit hard on myself,” said edge David Bailey postgame. “You never know how things are going to play out, so I was super relieved to go out there and make a play.”

Bailey got past Pittsburgh’s starting tackle Broderick Jones to reach QB Will Howard and force a loss of 11 yards on the third-down play. The sack forced a punt.

“I was trying to get the best get-off possible, bull-slip” Bailey said. “Honestly, I really didn’t do much film study on him. I didn’t really know what he was going to throw so I just went to my go-to [move].”

Bailey has played 20 snaps across the Jets’ first two preseason games (8 against Tampa Bay and 12 against Pittsburgh) and Glenn knows the rookie can improve.

“He’s very conscientious when it comes to that, he’s a hard worker,” Glenn said. “He’s there early every day working on his body and doing things like that, so I know for a fact he’s going to improve on some of those mistakes that he has.”
